Iverson had diarrhoea for 3 days and we worried that the diarrhoea would cause dehydration. We send him to Dr Foo yesterday evening for checkup and the doctor confirmed that Iverson was not dehydrated. We did ask the Dr Foo about any approach to stop the diarrhoea and doctor replied us that he is not going to use medicines to stop diarrhoea in young children. But, he recommended us to use the lactose-free formula milk at this period of time to help Iverson recover fully from diarrhoea before switching back to his usually formula milk. Iverson was also given the probiotic to treat and prevent diarrhoea.
What is probiotic? Probiotics are live microorganisms (in most cases, bacteria) that are similar to beneficial microorganisms found in the human gut. They are also called "friendly bacteria" or "good bacteria." Probiotics are available in foods and dietary supplements (for example, capsules, tablets, and powders) and in some other forms as well. Examples of foods containing probiotics are yogurt, fermented and unfermented milk, miso, tempeh, and some juices and soy beverages.
Dr Foo has also confirmed that Iverson has recoverred fully from acute bronchiolitis as the wheezing sound has gone. Congrats Iverson!
